A leaking chimney is the most urgent chimney problem there is, because water is what destroys chimneys in the first place. Every day it goes unfixed, the next rain or freeze makes it worse, and the damage spreads into your roof, your attic and your ceilings.
Signs your chimney is leaking
- Water or dampness in the firebox after rain
- Stains on the ceiling or wall around the chimney
- A musty smell near the fireplace
- White, crusty residue on the brick (efflorescence)
- Peeling paint or wallpaper near the chimney
Where chimney leaks come from
Water usually gets in through one of a few spots: a cracked crown at the top, worn-out flashing where the chimney meets the roof, failed mortar joints, or a missing or damaged chimney cap. Finding the real entry point is the whole job. Sealing the wrong spot just moves the problem.
How we fix it
We inspect the full chimney from the crown down, identify every point water can enter, show you photos, and give you a written price. Then we seal it properly so it holds.
